When you meet someone for the first time, or maybe only the visualization of a portrait, the brain configures in a few seconds a first impression. We like it or not, rapid assumptions are carried out based on age, gender, race, culture, physical appearance, context. All this helps to form a perception of who we are. Since 1999, the Czech photographer Dita Pepe has explored this idea of identity in her photographic series entitled "Self -portraits."
If you look good, there is one of the characters that comes out in each of the photographs mimicing with the environment. Dita Pepe sneaks into the life of the characters to the point of being one more of the environment or situation she portrays.
The same person becomes totally different if he combs one way, if you saw another and even if it is located in one context or another. An original work and with a very deep conceptual burden. You have a challenge, to see if you are able to detect it in each of the photographs.
