A report by the International Union for the Conservation of Nature has evaluated 71,576 species of animals. Of these, the report concludes that 21,286 are threatened or endangered. Perhaps, the one that most attracts the attention of these threatened species is the okapi, also called "Forest Girafa." The Okapi is a national symbol of the Democratic Republic of the Congo, and its survival is threatened by poaching and the loss of natural habitats.
In other words: we are taking care of erase more than 25% of the animal species that populate it. This is not normal. Is it all crazy? How is it possible that we allow, even more, that we cause - directly or indirectly - the disappearance of that immense wealth that diversity implies? Why does the different bother us so much?
And we don't talk only about Okapis. The same thing happens with people, it costs us greatly to accept that, fortunately, in the human species the diversity also prevails: diversity of sexes, races, colors in hair, languages, personalities, in ways of expressing themselves and Understanding life, tastes and ways of loving ... Each of us is an okapi, a unique animal. Isn't it worth keeping it?
A better world, that's what we want. A world that causes astonishment at every step, to each new surprise. A world full of okapis running through the forest.
