World Physicians - Orthopedic Surgery in Gaza
This project tries to solve the saturation of the Gaza Hospital and the impossibility of serving children and adolescents who need orthopedic services, surgeries and prostheses. Improving their health allows them to continue their school and social training preventing them from being in situations of vulnerability in an area that offers few development opportunities.
In addition, they carry out a great training to local medical teams who, because of the blockade, cannot leave Gaza to train. New medications and medical equipment of course do not arrive either. For volunteer doctors entering Gaza is like going back 30 years.
On the day of the award, we had the great luck of meeting two of his voluntary traumatologists and knowing his work and experience in Gaza first hand.

Ulls del Món - Ocular Health in Mozambique
The project of this NGO aims to improve the ocular health of the population of one of the Mozambique areas with the most population percentage below the limit of poverty (83%). The population is mainly dedicated to agricultural activity, so ocular health is essential for them. Despite having an ocular national plan, its implementation in the area leaves much to be desired. In 2002, when the Foundation arrived in the country, 6 ophthalmologists and ophthalmologists (of which only 3 premises) attended the entire population: 20 million inhabitants.
Over the years, the Foundation has worked to increase the number of specialists in the country and train professionals from different levels in eye care, both through specialization scholarships and through in situ courses. And has given comprehensive ophthalmological coverage to the population of Inhambane.
