Our sweaters spend a day with the volunteers, workers and animals of the Wild Forest reserve. A non -profit organization that works to rehabilitate and recover wild animals that have been affected by human impact. Wounded, orphaned or illegally captured animals that cannot return to nature and live in the reserve a second chance in semi -liberty while helping to regenerate eroded soil and educate about the conservation of the natural environment.
A day in which we met the story behind many of the animals in the reserve thanks to Maria, manager of the reserve and Belén and Lucía, two volunteers who have spent more than two months with them.
We met Ofelia, Tennesse, Isis, Madroño & Nellota, María & Luisa, Mortadelo & Filemón ...
Arbutus: Victim of a road run over, appeared with 3 of his brothers being the only survivor. A family found him on the edge of the road and acted quickly by providing heat and food. Now he grows wild with his adoptive sister Acorn.
Mortadelo & Filemón & Ofelia: During the Covid the owner of a equestrian died and his animals ran out of water and food without anyone knowing. When they found them they contacted the reserve due to Ofelia since being a guanaco, a wild camelid, could not be housed anywhere. With her they also made a hole to Mortadelo and Filemón, two donkeys that are father and son and who now go freely for the forest. Ofelia has found her new family in the sheep.
Ireland: This rooster, like many other chickens and roosters come from a massive rescue of a chickens of a supermarket. Now they graze every day in one hectare of meadow, they can sunbathe and make sand baths accompanied by other rescued birds.
ISIS: It is an Iberian deer male that reached the reserve with a complex fracture in the leg with only two months of life. Because of this, many months of intensive care had to spend special parks so that he could cure well and could make normal life in the forest habitat. He is now an essential resident within the group of cervids, always willing to cooperate and trust his caregivers.
Tennessee: This Gamo was born in a zoo and could not move the hind legs. It was there when a caregiver decided to bet on him and try a rehabilitation. It spent months living with people in a house, but once he managed to walk he went to the reservation. Now Campa Libre for the 12 hectares of the forest habitat.
Spring: Flora and spring came to them from a cooperative when they went to buy I think for the animals of the reserve. They had just arrived since they did not love them where they were born and thought someone could take care of them. This was how these two turkeys arrived that help daily the management of the garden pests.

Megan: It is a stolen breeding from the forest. A "want to help" but not know the impact it can generate. Megan appeared with his brothers inside a pipe and were "rescued" when confused with dog puppies. The rest of the brothers died and when only she left a veterinarian took them out of her mistake and a new home was sought here in the reserve.
